Merhi pakt voorlopige pole position in Zandvoort

Roberto Merhi heeft de voorlopige pole position gepakt op het Circuit Park Zandvoort. In de eerste kwalificatie was de Spanjaard slechts 0.008 seconden sneller dan teamgenoot Daniel Juncadella. Nigel Melker kwalificeerde zich voorlopig als zesde.

De kwalificatie verliep droog in Zandvoort. Daarin was het Prema-team oppermachtig. Merhi en Juncadella kregen in het begin van de sessie nog concurrentie van Mücke-teamgenoten Felix Rosenqvist en Nigel Melker, maar deze moesten later afhaken.

Juncadella en Merhi streden verder om de pole en de strijd werd met acht duizendsten in het voordeel van Merhi beslist. Rosenqvist eindigde als derde met een achterstand van drie tienden op Merhi. Marco Wittmann eindigde als vierde, gevolgd door Kevin Magnussen. Nigel Melker reed de zesde tijd op zeven tienden achterstand.

De tweede kwalificatie begint om 16:05 uur.
