Hoofdrace: Bortoleto wint nipt voor Saucy in vermakelijke wedstrijd

Gabriel Bortoleto heeft zijn tweede overwinning in een hoofdrace te pakken. Op Albert Park won de Braziliaan vanaf poleposition de wedstrijd in Australië. Hij finishte voor Gregoire Saucy, die zijn eerste podium scoorde. Gabriel Mini volgde als derde en pakte net als Saucy ook zijn eerste prijs in de Formule 3.

Uitslag
Enkele coureurs kregen nog een straf met verstrekkende gevolgen voor de uitslag
Luke Browning heeft een tijdstraf van vijf seconden gekregen voor het veroorzaken van een botsing met Franco Colapinto. De stewards stelden vast dat de bestuurder van de Hitech Pulse-Eight voornamelijk verantwoordelijk was voor de aanrijding. Door de straf zakt de Brit naar P8 in het eindklassement.

Dino Beganovic heeft een tijdstraf van 10 seconden gekregen voor het veroorzaken van een botsing met Caio Collet. De stewards constateerden dat de Zweed schuldig was aan het veroorzaken van een lekke band bij de coureur van Van Amersfoort Racing. Het betekent dat de rijder van PREMA Racing zakt naar de 13e plaats in het eindklassement.

Mari Boya heeft een tijdstraf van 10 seconden gekregen die is omgezet in een gridstraf van vijf plaatsen. De coureur van MP Motorsport werd schuldig bevonden aan een aanrijding met Nikola Tsolov van ART Grand Prix.

PHM Racing van Roberto Faria van Charouz heeft een gridstraf van vijf plaatsen gekregen vanwege een incident met Tsolov in bocht 11. De stewards achtten de Braziliaan volledig verantwoordelijk voor het contact.

Ten slotte heeft Kaylen Frederick een gridstraf van 10 plaatsen gekregen wegens onregelmatig rijden. De stewards ontdekten dat de ART Grand Prix-coureur verantwoordelijk was voor de aanrijding met Tsolov in bocht 3.

Alle coureurs met gridstraffen zullen hun penalty uitzitten in de volgende race waarin ze deelnemen en dat is hoogstwaarschijnlijk het weekend in Monza op 19-20-21 mei.

Stand

Doordat Bortoleto opnieuw een hoofdrace won gaat de Braziliaan fier aan kop met 58 punten. Op gepaste afstand met 38 punten staat Sauce. Derde is Beganovic met 28 punten.
