Euroseries verandert in officieel Europees FIA-kampioenschap

De Formule 3 Euroseries gaat vanaf volgend jaar door het leven als het FIA Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap. De races vinden in 2013 plaats in het voorprogramma van de DTM, het WTCC en het WEC. De kalender zal uit tien weekenden bestaan, de precieze invulling is nog onbekend. Elke ontmoeting bestaat uit drie races en twee kwalificaties.

Gerhard Berger, voorzitter van de Eenzitter Commissie bij de internationale autosportbond FIA: "We zijn vorig seizoen begonnen met het proces om het Europese Formule 3-kampioenschap in ere te herstellen. Na een positieve uitwisseling van standpunten en meningen zetten we in 2013 de volgende stap naar een zelfstandige serie met bijbehorende attractieve kalender. We hebben alles gedaan om de kosten zoveel mogelijk te drukken, vooral via de sportieve en technische reglementen. De nadruk ligt op performance zodat de beste talenten zich kunnen tonen."
