Carlo van Dam wint en leidt kampioenschap

Carlo van Dam heeft de tweede race op het circuit van Oschersleben gewonnen. De Nederlander eindigde voor de Belg Frederic Vervisch en de Duitser Michael Klein. In de eerste race was Van Dam nog derde geworden. Tweede was toen ook al Vervisch die alleen zijn landgenoot Nico Verdonck voor moest laten. Carlo van Dam gaat nu alleen aan de leiding van het Duitse Formule 3-kampioenschap.

Van Dam: Ik heb vanaf de eerste seconde vol gas gegeven en dat is de sleutel naar succes in deze klasse, zo is gebleken. Er waren veel gele vlaggen en na het incident in de kwalificatie ging ik in de race toch langzamer langs zon vlag dan normaal. Maar ik ben derde geworden en heb een overwinning gepakt, ik ben zeer tevreden over dit weekend. We hebben ons doel om de leiding in de stand over te nemen behaald.

Ook de andere Nederlander deed goed mee in Oschersleben. Recardo Bruins, teamgenoot van Van Dam bij Van Amersfoort Racing, kwam twee keer net tekort voor het podium. In de eerste race werd hij vierde, in race twee vijfde. De Duitse Formule 3 heeft Nederland al behoorlijk veel successen opgeleverd. In 1993 werd Jos Verstappen er kampioen, in 1999 Christijan Albers en vorig jaar pakte Ho-Pin Tung de titel. Andere bekende kampioenen zijn Jarno Trulli, Nick Heidfeld en Michael Schumacher. Wellicht wordt Carlo van Dam de volgende in dat rijtje.
