Carlo van Dam wint en verliest

Carlo van Dam zal met een gemengd gevoel terugkijken op zijn weekend op de Nurburgring. De Nederlander won dan wel race 1 op het Duitse circuit maar in de tweede race moest hij genoegen nemen met plek acht. De Belg Frederic Vervisch won die race en trok de stand in het Duitse Formule 3-kampioenschap daardoor bijna gelijk.

Van Dam had zaterdag al indrukwekkend race 1 gewonnen. De 21-jarige coureur van Van Amersfoort Racing stuurde nagenoeg foutloos over de baan en leidde van start tot finish. Recardo Bruins kende ook een wisselvallend weekend. De teamgenoot van Van Dam werd een keer derde, maar in de eerste race scoorde hij niet door een drive-through penalty.

Carlo van Dam vertrok gisteren ook de tweede race van pole position maar Vervisch had de betere start. Om dat goed te maken ging Van Dam erg laat in de remmen voor bocht 1 en dat bleek te laat. Een mooie inhaalrace leverde hem toch nog de achtste plek op. De jonge Duitser Christian Vietoris behaalde op de Nurburgring zijn eerste podiumplekken. De pas 18-jarige coureur werd een keer tweede en een keer derde.
