Yelmer Buurman rijdt naar podium

Yelmer Buurman blijft zijn goede vorm vasthouden in de Formule 3 Euroseries. De jonge Nederlander scoorde tot nu toe in elke race punten en ook in beide races op het circuit van Magny-Cours was dat het geval. In race 1 werd de 20-jarige coureur zevende, na race 2 mocht hij zelfs naar het podium. Buurman werd derde.

Landgenoot Renger van der Zande was minder gelukkig. Vooral in de eerste race liep het niet bij de coureur van Prema Powerteam, daarin werd hij twaalfde. In de tweede race vocht hij zich knap terug de top tien in, maar uiteindelijk kwam hij twee plekken te kort voor zijn eerste punt sinds de openingsrace.

De races werden gewonnen door Kamui Kobayashi en James Jakes. Voor beide heren betrof het hun allereerste zege in de Formule 3 Euroseries. Kampioenschapleider Sebastien Buemi kwam niet verder dan één derde plek, in race 1. In race 2 werd hij op ruime achterstand negentiende.
