Eerste podiumplek voor Renger van der Zande

Renger van der Zande heeft zijn eerste podiumplek in de Formule 3 Euroseries behaald. De Nederlander kende sowieso een goed weekend, want ook in de eerste race eindigde hij in de punten. Het waren de eerste punten voor de jonge coureur sinds de openingsrace op de Hockenheimring.

Waar Van der Zande sindsdien geplaagd werd door pech ging het met Yelmer Buurman juist uitmuntend. Op het circuit van Mugello waren de rollen omgedraaid. Buurman werd slechts vijftiende in race 1, maar vocht zich in race 2 knap terug. Daarin werd de Nederlander nog zesde waardoor hij toch nog een puntje overhield aan het weekend in Italië.

De zeges op Mugello gingen naar Romain Grosjean en Franck Mailleux. De eerstgenoemde gaat nu ook aan de leiding in het kampioenschap. Met een pole position, winst in race 1 en een tweede plek in race 2 was het een zeer geslaagd weekend voor de Fransman.
