Nederlanders niet op podium in Zandvoort

Yelmer Buurman en Renger van der Zande zijn er niet in geslaagd om hun thuisrace op te sieren met een podiumplek. Het tweetal scoorde wel punten, maar kon voor eigen publiek niet echt schitteren. Buurman was nog zo goed begonnen met een derde startplek voor race 1, maar daarin werd hij slechts zevende. Daardoor scoorde hij nog wel twee punten.

Datzelfde aantal punten scoorde Renger van der Zande in de tweede, kletsnatte race. In de eerste race was hij opgerukt van een vijftiende naar een negende plek en in race 2 kwam de jonge Nederlander als vijfde over de finish. Buurman werd zestiende nadat een gok om in de wisselende weersomstandigheden niet de pits in te komen verkeerd uitpakte.

Hij was daarvoor in gevecht met Nico Hulkenberg om de eerste plek. De Duitser kwam wel binnen voor regenbanden en won uiteindelijk de race. Sebastien Buemi werd tweede en Romain Grosjean eindigde als derde. De laatstgenoemde had race 1 al gewonnen en gaat aan de leiding in de stand om het kampioenschap.
