Hulkenberg wint Zandvoort Masters op Zolder

Niko Hulkenberg heeft de meest prestigieuze Formule 3-race van het seizoen gewonnen. De Masters of Formula 3 werd altijd verreden op Circuit Park Zandvoort, maar moest door het beperkte aantal geluidsdagen uitwijken naar Zolder. Daar won de jonge Duitser die voor ASM in de Formule 3 Euroseries uitkomt. Hij werd gevolgd door een duo van Signature-Plus, Yann Clairay en Jean-Karl Vernay.

De race werd gedomineerd door coureurs uit de Formule 3 Euroseries. Grootste afwezige in de top tien was echter kampioenschapleider Romain Grosjean. De Fransman had zich nog wel als beste gekwalificeerd, maar zijn auto sloeg af op de startopstelling.

Voor de Nederlanders was een rol in de subtop weggelegd. Renger van der Zande werd vijfde op bijna tien seconden van Hulkenberg. Yelmer Buurman werd achtste na een touché met uitgerekend Van der Zande.
