Carlo van Dam wint twee keer op Assen

Carlo van Dam heeft goede zaken gedaan in het Duitse Formule 3-kampioenschap. De Nederlander, die voor dit weekend al de koppositie in handen had, won beide races op het circuit van Assen. Van Dam stond ook twee maal op pole position en reed een keer de snelste ronde, waardoor hij 23 punten kon bijschrijven aan zijn totaal. De dichtstbijzijnde concurrent Frederic Vervisch pakte op Assen 13 punten.

Recardo Bruins, teamgenoot van Van Dam bij Van Amersfoort Racing, was vooral in de tweede race een geduchte tegenstander van de kampioenschapleider. In race 1 werd hij nog zesde, in race 2 was hij dicht bij de overwinning. Van Dam mocht echter winnen vanwege zijn goede positie in het kampioenschap.

De Nederlander was uitermate tevreden na een nagenoeg perfect weekend. Van Dam: Dit was echt een topweekend! Ik was voortdurend dominant en ik heb elke training als snelste afgesloten. Door de tweede race te winnen is het mij voor het eerst gelukt beide races in een weekend te winnen dit jaar. Het team heeft ontzettend hard gewerkt dit weekend en de wagen was erg goed in balans. Ik ben blij dat ik in Nederland heb kunnen winnen voor zoveel publiek!
