Gasly vervangt Buemi bij e.dams in New York

Pierre Gasly maakt komend weekend zijn debuut in de Formule E. De GP2-kampioen van 2016, tegenwoordig actief in de Super Formula, neemt in New York de honneurs waar voor Sebastien Buemi. De leider in het Formule E-kampioenschap moet verstek laten gaan omdat hij verplichtingen in het World Endurance Championship heeft.

Daarom moest Renault e.dams op zoek naar een geschikte vervanger en de keuze is gevallen op Gasly. Oud-coureur Alain Prost, mede-eigenaar van het team: "Ik betreur dat de Formule E en het WEC dit weekend tegelijkertijd racen, een clash die makkelijk voorkomen had kunnen worden. Echter, we kijken vooruit en verheugen ons op de komst van Gasly."

"Racen in New York wordt een uitdaging voor hem. Hij debuteert in de Formule E in de laatste fase van het kampioenschap. Gezien onze gedegen voorbereiding blaken we van het zelfvertrouwen en onze doelen blijven hetzelfde. We willen het maximaal haalbare resultaat in de wacht slepen en onze voorsprong in het kampioenschap verstevigen door zoveel mogelijk punten te scoren."
