Titelverdediger Di Grassi pakt eerste seizoenszege in Zürich

Op zeer overtuigende wijze heeft Lucas di Grassi zijn eerste seizoenszege in de Formule E binnengehaald. De Braziliaan was in het Zwitserse Zürich te snel voor Sam Bird en Jerome d'Ambrosio. Klassementsleider Jean-Eric Vergne verloor flink wat van zijn voorsprong met zijn tiende plaats.

Mitch Evans reed Jaguar voor het eerst naar een pole-position in de Formule E, maar verloor vlak voor de pitstops de leiding aan Di Grassi. De Braziliaan, die het seizoen met vier 0-resultaten startte maar in de vier voorgaande races als tweede eindigde, behield tijdens de stop de leiding en reed vervolgens eenvoudig weg bij de achtervolgers.

Aanvankelijk waren Evans, Lotterer en Buemi belangrijke achtervolgers van Di Grassi, maar allen kregen zij een drive-through penalty voor het te snel rijden tijdens de full course yellow. Dat gold even later ook voor Vergne, die daardoor niet verder kwam dan P10 en kostbare punten verloor in de titelstrijd. Bird en D'Ambrosio schoven zodoende door naar de laatste twee podiumplaatsen, voor Lotterer en Buemi. Voor Evans zat er uiteindelijk niet meer dan een zevende plaats in.
