Frijns wint chaotische ePrix in Parijs en pakt leiding in kampioenschap

Robin Frijns heeft zijn eerste overwinning in het ABB FIA Formula E-kampioenschap gepakt. De Limburgse-coureur doorstond een heftige regenbui en schade aan zijn auto. Frijns werd met zijn overwinning de achtste verschillende winnaar dit seizoen.

De race startte met Oliver Rowland op de eerste plaats achter de safety car, omdat de omstandigheden te wisselvallig waren. De Brit kon zijn leidende positie niet lang vasthouden en crashte in de tiende bocht, teamgenoot Sebastien Buemi nam de leiding over. Frijns zette vervolgens druk op de Zwitser en maakte contact met de voormalig Toro Rosso-coureur. Het contact, in de zesde ronde, gaf Frijns zorgen over de beschadigde voorvleugel.

Twee ronde later remde Frijns de Zwitser uit en lag aan de leiding. Buemi kreeg vervolgens een lekke band en zag zich uitgeschakeld voor de overwinning. Frijns kreeg Andre Lotterer achter zich aan, maar de Duitser kon eigenlijk nooit een vuist maken om Frijns voorbij te gaan. Felipe Massa lag op koers om zijn eerste podium te behalen, maar spinde en verloor daardoor alle kans op een top klassering. In het vervolg van de race kwam de regen opnieuw naar beneden en besloot de wedstrijdleiding de race te neutraliseren.

Nadat de race weer werd vrijgegeven waren er meerdere incidenten waardoor de race weer onderbroken werd. Frijns won uiteindelijk de race voor Lotterer, Daniel Abt en Lucas di Grassi. Massa werd negende en Pascal Wehrlein scoorde het laatste punt voor Mahindra. Met zijn overwinning in Parijs heeft Frijns de leiding genomen in het kampioenschap. Onze landgenoot heeft twee punten voorsprong op André Lotterer. Het volgende circuit wat de Formule E aan gaat doen is het circuit van Monaco op 11 mei.

  Hoogie35 niet alleen dat... Eenmaal losgelaten in de regen reed hij ineens 5 seconden weg bij Lotterer voor de safetycar kwam. Daar waar iedereen moeite had met de kenmerken van een elektrische auto zonder traction control (instant power) zag je echt zijn talent naar boven zien komen met het op gevoel het gas op gaan. Die paar rondjes.. poh... petje af gewoon.

Knotsgekke regenrace, en een dikverdiende overwinning voor Frijns. Met als gevolg ook nog een geweldige p1 in het kampioenschap, klasse.

  Was idd een zeer goede race, zag er aanvankelijk een saaie baan uit maar die regen maakte veel goed, jammer ook voor D'ambrosio die maakte echt enorm veel indruk (wss een wet afstelling).
  
  Ook frappant dat Frijns nog wegreed met die beschadigde voorvleugel, Lotterer is toch geen sukkel.

  Heb m vanmorgen teruggekeken, schitterend gedaan. DIe regen kwam eigenlijk goed uit, want als ie harder had gereden in droge omstandigheden was de voorvleugel er helemaal af gerukt, zoals bij Rowland gebeurde.
  
  Knap inderdaad hoe Frijns na de herstart Lotterer gewoon liet staan. Die ervaring in de World Series by Renault komt nu van pas.

Heel goed bezig die Frijns. We weten dat hij goed is in titels behalen. Hoop dat hij dat dit jaar doet in de FE

  Wordt lastig met die rare quali format... en er waren ook weinig die het van hem verwachten... maar ik zag hem t hele jaar al als de underdog voor de titel. Ik hoop dat het m lukt idd.

Als een ware majectic vandaag reed hij in de meest listige omstandigheden de rest zoek en met als beloning ook nog eens de leiding in het kampioenschap!

  Als winnen in F1 het enige belangrijke zou zijn... zouden alle andere coureurs dus nutteloos racen. lekker kortzichtig en beledigend voor WEC, Indycars, superformula, Formule E, WRX, WRC ga maar door.
