Frijns grijpt net naast poleposition in Monaco, De Vries start race achteraan

Felix da Costa heeft in een zeer spannende kwalificatie in de e-Prix van Monaco de poleposition veroverd. De regerend kampioen bleef Robin Frijns, Mitch Evans en Jean-Eric Vergne nipt voor. Kampioenschapsleider Nyck de Vries kende een slechte sessie. De Mercedes-coureur werd uiteindelijk 23ste en begint de race op de laatste startrij.

Frijns en De Vries kwamen in actie in de eerste kwalificatiegroep. Dat is vaak een nadeel, maar dit keer bewees Frijns het tegendeel. De nummer vier in de tussenstand zette de snelse tijd neer van alle 24 coureurs en mocht als de nummer één doorstoten naar de superpole. De Vries kon geen goede tijd neerzetten en werd uiteindelijk 23ste. De kampioenschapsleider kan daardoor een goede eindklassering vergeten in de race.

Sergio Sette Camara zorgde in de laatste kwalificatiegroep voor een code rood. De Braziliaan verloor de achterkant in laatste bocht richting start en finish en knalde in de barrière. Sébastien Buemi en Tom Blomqvist mochten na de neutralisatie nog een poging wagen, maar konden zichzelf niet plaatsen voor de superpole.

Frijns, Evans, Maximilian Günther, Da Costa, Vergne en Oliver Rowland streden om de poleposition. Frijns kwam als laatste aan de beurt vanwege de snelste tijd in het vorige segment.

Voordat Frijns zijn run mocht doen, stond titelverdediger Da Costa bovenaan met een 1.31.317. De Envision Virgin Racing-coureur zat tijdens zijn ronde dicht op de tijd van de Portugees, maar kwam op de finishlijn 0.012 tekort en werd P2. De gehele top vier stond binnen een tiende van een seconde. De tijd van Rowland werd geschrapt, nadat de Brit op een verkeerde manier de pitsstraat uitreed.

  Monaco is ook het circuit waar de FE het minste tijdverschil zal hebben, omdat het een kort en langzaam circuit is.

  Ze reden toch een 31? Formule 1 doet een 14... geef ze slicks en ze gaan wel 2 seconden harder.
  
  Je theorie gaat deels op... juist op langzame banen verlies je percentueel meer tijd door prestatieverschil in het chassis. Monza is al jaren een van de meest spannende quali's. Juist de powerverschil geef ik je dan wel weer gelijk in. Zolang dat heel beperkt is zullen ze op lange rechterstukken bij voorbaat al 5 seconden per stuk verliezen idd. Maar Monaco komt ook vooral de geweldige chassis van f1 in de spotlights.

  Nogal logisch dat het langzamer is dan F1 en F2. Dingen wegen 800kg hebben 270pk en profielbanden.

Ik blijf het niks vinden, vooral vanwege het (enorm irritante) geluid.. Alsof je met piepend krijt over een schoolbord gaat.. Het is ook enorm veel langzamer dan F1, alsof alles in slow-motion gaat.. Ik zie de toegevoegde waarde dan ook niet als raceklasse, behalve die van de zogenaamde groene duurzaamheid politieke agenda..

  Dezelfde toegevoegde waarde als porsche supercup... entertainment. FE is immers sneller zonder slicks. Dat kun je ook zeggen: waarom bestaat porsche supercup... (antwoord is hetzelfde... er zijn mensen en bedrijven die t leuk vinden)

  Zat mensen die FE wel vermakelijk vinden. Het is competatief en er wordt nogal eens flink gekleund. En aan groen en duurzaam is niks zogenaamds. Je kan er beter blij mee zijn dat er nu al mensen bezig zijn met electrisch racen of andere alternatieven voor fossiele brandstoffen, want uiteindelijk gaat dat gewoon ophouden(verbrandingsmotoren).
