Cassidy wint ePrix Portland voor Dennis na spannend slot

De ePrix van Portland is gewonnen door Nicky Cassidy. De Envision Racing-coureur eindigde na een intens gevecht op het einde voor kampioenschapsleider Jake Dennis die vanaf pole mocht vertrekken. Voormalig Formule E-kampioen Antonio Felix da Costa claimde de derde positie. Robin Frijns pakte het laatste puntje met een tiende plek.

Op het permanente circuit van Portland in Noord-Amerika, waar later dit jaar ook de IndyCar langskomt, kregen veel enthousiaste racefans waar voor hun geld met een vermakelijke wedstrijd met rijders die continu zij aan zij de strijd aangingen.

Tussendoor werd de e-Prix onderbroken door twee neutralisaties vanwege stilgevallen bolides, maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken. De slotfase was er namelijk een om van te smullen. Het gevecht om de zege en ander eremetaal ging tot de allerlaatste meters door. Het was uiteindelijk Cassidy die aan het laatste eind trok.

In de strijd om de titel is het superspannend met maar een punt verschil tussen de nummer een Dennis en nummer twee Cassidy.

Op het programma staan nog twee double headers. Eentje in Rome in het weekend van 15 juli en eentje in London in het weekend van 29 juli.

@Benetton daar draait het toch om ? Ging elk jaar naar de TT van assen , en voor mij was gedurende meeste jaren de Moto3 het hoogtepunt omdat daar altijd strijd was..

Dat is dezelfde rondetijd als de USF2000 in 2018, Bij de Indy Pro 2000 staat het ronderecord op 1.07.15 van Veekay, bij de Indy Lights op 1.03.16, ook van Veekay en de Indycar deed hier in 20018 58.7

  Echter... de eerste chicane van formule E was scherper. Maar alsnog te langzaam om jezelf een serieuze pro klasse te kunnen noemen.
  
  Met slicks zullen ze wel al 2 a 3 seconden sneller zijn plus een kleine 2 seconden voor de scherpere chicane is ongeveer tussen indylights en Pro2000.
  
  Wat mij verbaasd is dat deze dingen niet veel sneller op 200 zitten. De acceleratie zou bij elektrische autos de core moeten zijn maar dat komt hier totaal niet naar boven.
  
  Begrijp me niet verkeerd. Ik blijf het volgen en vind de races best spannend, maar er zijn duidelijk nog verbeterpunten voor het geheel als concept.
