'Frijns vindt nieuw Formule E-zitje bij Envision Racing'

Robin Frijns maakte enkele weken geleden bekend dat hij het Formule E-team van Abt Cupra ging verlaten. De Nederlandse coureur kende een wisselvallig seizoen waarin hij al vroeg een gecompliceerde pols- en handbreuk op liep. Nu lijkt het er op dat hij alweer een nieuw zitje heeft gevonden in de elektrische raceklasse.

Frijns zal zijn Formule E-activiteiten gaan combineren met zijn werkzaamheden voor BMW. Vorige week werd namelijk bekend dat Frijns een fabriekscontract heeft getekend bij de Duitse autobouwer. Hij heeft zich verbonden aan het LMDh-project van het merk. BMW is met deze auto nu al actief in de Amerikaanse IMSA-klasse, maar zet aankomend seizoen ook de stap naar het World Endurance Championship.

Frijns zal deze werkzaamheden nu gaan combineren met een nieuw seizoen in de Formule E, zo meldt de Telegraaf. Volgens de Nederlandse krant keert Frijns terug bij het team van Envision Racing. Tussen 2018 en 2022 was hij al actief voor dit team. Hij wordt de opvolger van Nick Cassidy en gaat een duo vormen met Sébastien Buemi.

Frijns eindigde afgelopen seizoen als 22ste in het Formule E-kampioenschap met slechts 6 punten. Hij miste door zijn blessure vier raceweekenden. Envision Racing heeft dan ook nog veel vertrouwen in hem.

  Abt opzich ook... alleen de aandrijving van Mahindra is bagger.
  
  Abt scoorde de 2de helft meer punten dan het worksteam Mahindra.
  
  Maar vooral het feit dat Envision met Jaguar rijdt, wat met name de 2de helft de betere was ten opzichte van Porsche... is het wel een interessant pakket voor Frijns.
