Roy Nissany zegeviert in eerste race op Silverstone, Visser negende

De eerste wedstrijd van het Formule V8 3.5-weekend op Silverstone is gewonnen door Roy Nissany. De zoon van voormalig Minardi-tester Chanoch Nissany overleefde een botsing met Egor Orudzhev en bleef vervolgens Matthieu Vaxiviere en Rene Binder voor.

Bij de start nam Orudzhev de leider en na vijftien ronden kwam Nissany bij hem in de buurt. Een ronde later waagde de Israëliër een inhaalpoging buitenom in Stowe en die eindigde in een botsing. Doordat het duo een voorsprong van ruim tien seconden op Vaxiviere had, kon Nissany de race in leidende positie hervatten, terwijl de wedstrijd van Orudzhev er niet veel later op zat.

Op het eind van de race wist Nissany met een aantal sterke ronden nog uit te lopen op pole-man Vaxiviere, waardoor het verschil zes seconden bedroeg aan de finish. De Fransman had moeite om het tempo bij te benen en kreeg bijna Binder nog op bezoek, maar die kon Vaxiviere wel stoppen. Beitske Visser kende een redelijke wedstrijd, waarin ze van de een-na-laatste naar de negende positie opklom, en zodoende twee punten op haar conto kan bijschrijven.

De tweede race van de Formule V8 3.5 is morgen om 13:10 uur.
