Twee keer P8 voor Verschoor in Monaco

Richard Verschoor heeft twee keer punten gescoord in de Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup in Monaco. In de eerste race kwam de jonge Nederlander zelfs als vijfde over de meet, maar door een valse start verloor hij nog drie plaatsen.

Verschoor: "Ik was maar twee of drie honderdsten te vroeg weg, wat geen verschil maakt, maar regels zijn regels. Het was teleurstellend die straf te krijgen, want hoewel ik alsnog punten scoorde met P8, was ik wel mijn klassering als beste rookie kwijt."

Voor race twee stond Verschoor achtste op de grid en daar finishte hij ook. Hij is tevreden over het tempo dat hij tentoon spreidde. "Maar inhalen is gewoon zó lastig in Monaco." Wat nog wel beter kan, is het kwalificeren, zo geeft Verschoor toe: “Al is dat ook ervaring.”

"Er zijn jongens die vorig jaar ook al in deze klasse raceten en die Monaco kennen, dat maakt echt verschil”, denkt Formule Renault 2.0-nieuwkomer Verschoor. Hij slaagt er echter steeds beter in om meer uit zijn auto te halen. "Ik kijk dus met plezier vooruit naar de volgende races."

Jarno Opmeer finishte de eerste wedstrijd in Monaco als dertiende en viel in de tweede race uit. De overwinningen in het prinsdom gingen naar Will Palmer en Sacha Fenestraz.

Jammer net iets te gretig bij de start.
Mooie leerschool voor Verschoor en bewijst echt wel dat hij bij de top zit van de rookies. Volgend jaar nog een seizoen en dan op naar Toro Rosso?! Laat maar gebeuren; )

  @StevenQ dat denk ik ook niet. Het is wel een keer voorgekomen trouwens, hij stond gisteren 2e op het podium.
  
  Volgend seizoen nog een seizoen FR 2.0 of als hij veel progressie maakt in de 2e helft van dit seizoen Formule3 of GP3, maar zoals het nu gaat is denk ik nog een seizoen FR2.0 beter.

  Over 2 seizoenen in F1 is echt waanzin. F1 halen wordt al een uitdaging op zich. Waarschijnlijk zal hij volgend jaar ook nog 2.0 doen, dan richting F3/GP3, en daarna nog 2 jaar GP2 ofzo, dan zit je op 2022 debuut, dan is hij 21, wat een normale leeftijd is om te debuteren.
  
  Maar dit plan is al redelijk ervan uitgaande dat alles volgens plan loopt. Echt zwak is hij niet, maar om nu te zeggen dat hij zich vooralsnog als volgende Formule 1-coureur van STR laat zien kan ik ook niet zeggen..

  Hij heeft 2x zoveel punten als z'n Amerikaanse teamgenoot, en z'n Nederlandse teamgenoot opmeer heeft nog geen punten. Zo slecht doet hij het niet. Zijn team doet het gewoon slecht.
