Verschoor: "We vonden wat snelheid"

Richard Verschoor heeft een bemoedigend weekend in de Formule Renault 2.0 Eurocup achter de rug. Op het circuit van Paul Ricard finishte het talent uit de Red Bull-opleiding twee keer in de punten, eerst als vierde en vervolgens nog als zevende.

Verschoor: "Dit was een prima weekend, we vonden wat snelheid. We waren nog niet zo snel als ik zou willen, maar ten opzichte van de afgelopen tests hebben we een stap in de juiste richting gezet. Het was geen slecht weekend. Ik ben heel blij dat we op de goede weg zijn."

In race één startte Verschoor als negende, in de tweede als twaalfde. Beide keren wist hij in de wedstrijd veel plaatsen goed te maken, waarbij hij in race één een handje geholpen werd door een spectaculaire crash van leider Sacha Fenestraz in de slotronde.

De jonge Nederlander staat na zijn twee puntenfinishes op Paul Ricard op een elfde plaats in het kampioenschap. Met 49 punten is Verschoor de best geklasseerde MP Motorsport-coureur. Team- en landgenoot Jarno Opmeer scoorde geen punten in Frankrijk en blijft op vier puntjes steken.
