Aleshin en Fauzy bestraft na kwalificatie met gridpenalty's

Mikhail Aleshin en Fairuz Fauzy zijn na afloop van de kwalificatie in Abu Dhabi bestraft door de wedstrijdleiding. Beide coureurs kwalificeerden zich al in het achterveld, maar vallen nog enkele posities terug.

Aleshin ging in de vrije training vanochtend in de fout toen hij tweemaal na het vallen van de finishvlag nog over de streep kwam. De Carlin-rijder valt terug van 22e naar de 24e plaats, ondanks een straf van drie posites. Fauzy, die zich als 23e kwalificeerde, valt echter tien posities terug nadat hij als schuldige werd aangewezen van het incident tussen hem en teammaat Johnny Cecotto Jr.
