Carlo van Dam klaar voor drukke testweken

Carlo van Dam maakt deze ochtend zijn debuut in de GP2-klasse op het Franse circuit van Paul Ricard. Door het winnen van het Duits Formule 3-kampioenschap krijgt de coureur uit Vlaardingen de kans om met BCN Competition zijn snelheid te tonen in een GP2-wagen.

Een unieke kans vindt Van Dam ook zelf, zo vertelt hij aan de redactie van F1Today.nl: "Dit zal echt een heel unieke ervaring worden. Ik heb vorige week een stoeltje gepast op de fabriek in Barcelona en het team is erg professioneel. Het zal spannend worden hoe de eerste paar runs gaan en hoeveel kracht de motor met zich mee brengt, dat is heel anders als ik gewend ben met een Formule 3-wagen of een Renault World Series-wagen, waarmee ik vorig jaar heb getest."

Na de testdag in de GP2-klasse komt er volgende week nog een test aan voor Carlo van Dam op Paul Ricard, dit keer in de World Series van Renault: "Deze test stond al heel lang op de agenda. Op 6 november zal ik voor Comtec testen, opnieuw op Paul Ricard. Misschien dat ik op 7 november ook nog test met Comtec of een ander team, maar daarover kan ik binnenkort meer over melden aangezien dat nog niet zeker is."

"Daarna vlieg ik door naar Macau om daar deel te nemen aan de Formule 3-race met HBR Motorsport. Dat zal ook een hele mooie ervaring worden, misschien wel voor slechts één keer dus ik ben ontzettend blij dat ik deel kan nemen. Na Macau vlieg ik terug naar Nederland om vervolgens waarschijnlijk opnieuw te testen in de World Series, maar dan op het circuit van Valencia. Deze test zal plaatsvinden van 28 tot 30 november."
