Yelmer Buurman tekent tweejarig contract bij Trust Team Arden

Yelmer Buurman rijdt komend seizoen in het voorprogramma van de Europese Formule 1-races. De 20-jarige Nederlander heeft zoals verwacht een contract getekend bij GP2-team Trust Team Arden. Naast de tweejarige verbintenis met Buurman bond het team met Riwal en Argus Oil ook nog twee Nederlandse sponsors aan zich.

Dit nieuws werd bekendgemaakt in het hoofdkantoor van titelsponsor Trust in Dordrecht. Buurman stapt vanaf de laatste race van de GP2 Asia Series in als vervanger voor Adam Khan en de Nederlander krijgt Red Bull Racing-testrijder Sebastien Buemi als teamgenoot. Ik kom bij een beroemd team met een grote staat van dienst en veel fans in Nederland. Ik zal erg teleurgesteld zijn als we niet regelmatig op het podium staan in 2008, aldus Buurman.

Teambaas Christian Horner werkte eerder al succesvol samen met Robert Doornbos en hij heeft hoge verwachtingen van Buurman. Met belangstelling heb ik zijn vorderingen in de Formule 3 Euroseries gevolgd. Ik ben er zeker van dat Yelmer uit kan zien naar een goed seizoen in de GP2.
