Pantano vindt onderdak bij Racing Engineering

Het is Giorgio Pantano toch weer gelukt om een nieuwe werkgever in de GP2 te vinden. De Italiaan die in het verleden voor Jordan in de Formule 1 reed staat in 2008 onder contract bij Racing Engineering. Vorig jaar reed de 28-jarige coureur voor Campos Grand Prix en won hij twee races. In totaal heeft hij al vijf GP2-races en zes Formule 3000-races op zijn naam geschreven.

Bij Racing Engineering wordt Pantano de teamgenoot van Javier Villa (foto), die vorig jaar drie sprintraces wist te winnen. Dit jaar wil het Spaanse team kampioen worden. Teambaas Alfonso de Orleans: Met de twee coureurs die wij hebben moeten we wel voor de coureurtitel en het constructeurkampioenschap gaan. We hebben de technische en financiële middelen om die woorden waar te maken. Beide rijders hebben eerder gewonnen en ik weet zeker dat ze weer zullen winnen.
