Davide Valsecchi mag ziekenhuis nog niet verlaten

GP2-coureur Davide Valsecchi blijft voorlopig nog in het ziekenhuis ter observatie. Valsecchi crashte gisteren zwaar tijdens de GP2-kwalificatie. Technisch directeur van de GP2-serie Didier Perrin heeft met Valsecchi gesproken over de crash en heeft ook de zwaar beschadigde auto onderzocht om de oorzaak te achterhalen.

Perrin: "De remmen functioneerden in het begin wel, maar verloren daarna steeds meer remkracht. Dat heeft de crash veroorzaakt, hij raakte de bandenstapel met ongeveer 150 km/h. Verder ben ik egr te spreken over de veiligheid van de GP2-auto's. De auto heeft de crash goed doorstaan en ook de bandenstapel langs het circuit absorbeerde de klap goed."

Valsecchi blijft voorlopig nog ter observatie in het ziekenhuis. Hij heeft een lichte hersenschudding en doktoren verwachten dat de gevolgen van de crash hem mogelijk nog weken uit de auto houden.
