FMS en Super Nova bestraft voor pitstraatincident

GP2-teams FMS International en Super Nova hebben allebei een reprimande ontvangen voor het pitstraatincident gisteren tijdens de kwalificatie. Super Nova heeft als aanstichter van het incident een boete gekregen van 10.000 euro.

Volgens de stewards is FMS serieus in gebreke gebleven ten opzichte van het GP2-reglement doordat een teamlid de weg blokkeerde voor de twee Super Nova auto's. Nadat hem gevraagd werd door twee monteurs of hij aan de kant wilde gaan werd hij fysiek aan de kant geschoven door Super Nova's chefmonteur Loic Sorridente, terwijl de motortemperatuur van beide wagens opliep tot gevaarlijke waarden. Bovendien waren teambazen Paolo Coloni (FMS) en David Sears (Super Nova) betrokken bij een heftige woordenwisseling, waarbij scheldwoorden niet geschuwd werden. De twee moesten hiervoor op het matje komen bij de wedstrijdleiding.

Het hele incident gebeurde voor de camera van CCTV. Sears: "Het was geen gevecht, maar ik heb Paolo in rake bewoorderingen verteld dat hij weg moest wezen anders zaten wij met twee opgeblazen motoren. De rekening had hij dan zeker weten gekregen."

Coloni accepteert de boete en erkent dat zijn teamlid fout zat, maar is boos om de gebeurtenissen na het incident. "Ons teamlid werd aangevallen door vier man! Dat kan echt niet. Hij is er ook mee naar de politie gegaan. De reactie van David maakt het alleen nog maar erger. Hij gooide scheldwoorden naar me toe live op de Italiaanse televisie. Dat is niet erg netjes."
