Van der Zande debuteert in december in Asia Series

Renger van der Zande neemt tijdens het GP2 Asia Series-weekend in Dubai op 5 en 6 december plaats in een auto van Trust Team Arden. De huidige Formule 3 Euroseries-coureur maakt zodoende zijn debuut in de GP2. Trust Team Arden heeft ook een optie laten opnemen om de Nederlander te contracteren voor het Europese GP2-seizoen van 2009.

Van der Zande: Ik ben extreem verrast en blij. Mijn GP2-test ging redelijk goed, maar ik had nog veel sneller kunnen zijn. Derhalve had ik niet verwacht dat ik zo snel een nieuwe kans zou krijgen. Dit is de mooiste kans uit mijn leven en ik ga hem met beide handen aanpakken. Ik wil bewijzen dat ik een van de snelste Nederlandse coureurs van dit moment ben.

Graag wil ik teambaas Christian Horner en in het bijzonder mijn sponsor en teamsponsor Michel Perridon van Trust International bedanken voor deze unieke kans en het vertrouwen dat ik heb gekregen. Het team is vorig jaar in de GP2 Asia Series in de top-3 geëindigd, dus ik weet wat mij te doen staat. Ik ben er klaar voor!
