Yelmer Buurman voegt zich bij team van Tiago Monteiro

Oud Formule 1-coureur Tiago Monteiro heeft zijn eerste beslissing als teameigenaar van GP2-team Ocean Racing, voorheen BCN Competicion, genomen. De Portugees stelde Yelmer Buurman aan als nieuwe coureur voor zijn renstal voor de rest van de GP2 Asia Series. Voor de Nederlander een herkansing in de GP2, nadat hij eerder dit jaar door Trust Team Arden aan de kant werd geschoven.

Buurman is uiteraard verguld met de nieuwe kans. Het is spannend om voor een nieuw team uit te komen en ik ga mijn best doen om de teamleiding te overtuigen om me ook voor 2009 een stoeltje te geven. Ik wil Tiago bedanken voor deze nieuwe kans in de GP2 na een succesvol seizoen in de Superleague Formula. Vorig jaar stond ik in Dubai op het podium en dat hoop ik te herhalen voor Ocean Racing. Tiago heeft zijn ideeën en plannen aan mij uitgelegd, en ik ben ervan overtuigd dat zijn team snel richting de top gaat.

Monteiro: Ik zie Yelmer als een goede coureur met veel potentie en hij past perfect bij ons project. Hij is snel en heeft al ervaring in Formule-wagens. Hij is gemotiveerd en werkt hard. Precies wat Ocean Racing op dit moment nodig heeft.
