Van der Zande maakt zich op voor debuut in Asia Series

Renger van der Zande debuteert komend weekend in de GP2 Asia Series. De Nederlander bemant in Dubai een van de twee autos van Trust Team Arden. Van der Zande is nog niet zeker van zijn stoeltje voor de rest van het seizoen en hoopt zich met een goede prestatie te verzekeren van zijn plek voor de resterende races.

Ik heb zojuist een rondje gelopen over het circuit en het ziet er erg mooi uit. Je kan wel zien dat het een woestijncircuit is, omdat men steeds bezig is het zand van de baan te blazen. Ik heb bijzonder veel zin in het weekend en ga met een volledig open vizier het weekend in. Er is een aantal jongens dat het circuit goed kent, maar daar ga ik me niet mee bezig houden. Ik bouw het weekend op mijn manier op en dan vertrouw ik erop dat we iets moois kunnen laten zien.

Dit wordt mijn debuut in deze klasse en het lijkt me echt supergaaf om in deze auto's te racen. Het is een nieuwe fase in mijn loopbaan en ik heb er enorm veel zin in. Ik heb al twee keer voor Trust Team Arden getest en de samenwerking met het team verliep erg goed. Het zijn aardige jongens, die zeer professioneel bezig zijn. Het bevalt me erg goed en ik hoop dat ik komend weekend een paar fraaie races kan rijden, aldus de Nederlander.
