Dubai-races afgelast door hevige regenval

Het circuit van Dubai wordt momenteel getroffen door hevige regenval. Na inspectie van de wedstrijdleiding kwamen ze tot de gezamenlijke conclusie dat het niet veilig was de races te verrijden. In een later stadium beslist de organisatie hoe deze situatie opgelost gaat worden in het kampioenschap. Naast de tweede GP2-race kunnen ook de races van de FIA GT3 en de Speedcar geen doorgang vinden.

Circuitdirecteur Richard Birch: "Dit is de ergste wateroverlast die we op het circuit hebben meegemaakt. Een paar jaar geleden hadden we een soortgelijk probleem, maar dat schopte het programma voor een belangrijk evenement niet in de war. Het is zonde, want we verwachtten voor vandaag opnieuw veel publiek."

De eerste race in de GP2 werd gewonnen door Kamui Kobayashi (foto), terwijl ex-Formule 1-coureur Vitantonio Liuzzi zegevierde tijdens zijn debuut in de Speedcar Series.
