Van der Garde: "Weekend verpest door kwalificatie"

Voor Giedo van der Garde is het GP2 Asia Series-weekend in Qatar op een teleurstelling uitgelopen. Pech in de kwalificatie en een auto die niet helemaal optimaal werkte zorgden er voor dat een achtste plek het maximaal haalbare was.

Van der Garde blikt op zijn site terug: Ik denk dat we in de tweede race het maximale eruit hebben gehaald. Mijn start was heel goed en ik heb later nog Kobayashi kunnen inhalen, want die had problemen. De auto liep echter opnieuw niet goed op het rechte stuk, waardoor inhalen er gewoon niet in zat. In het bochtige gedeelte was ik dan weer bloedsnel, maar zonder een fatsoenlijke snelheid op het rechte stuk begin je niks.

Mijn weekend werd gewoon verpest door de kwalificatie, toen ik mijn snelste ronde niet meer kon verbeteren door een rode vlag. Het is jammer, maar het is niet anders. Nu kijk ik uit naar de test voor de GP2 Main Series op Paul Ricard, over drie weken.
