Giedo van der Garde zet jacht in op vijfde plaats

Voor Giedo van der Garde komt er komend weekend een einde aan zijn eerste GP2-seizoen. Na een moeizame start herpakte de Nederlander zich en dat betaalde zich uit in twee zeges in sprintraces en een keer winst in een hoofdrace. Op het circuit van Portimao gaat de iSport International-rijder op jacht naar de vijfde plaats in het kampioenschap, waar hij momenteel drie punten op achterstaat.

Van der Garde: We trainen op vrijdag twee keer een half uur. Het is een mooi circuit, met veel hoogteverschillen en blinde bochten. Het zal even wennen zijn, maar gelukkig hebben we wat meer tijd om te rijden. We verkeren momenteel in een uitstekende vorm en hopelijk kunnen we dat vasthouden in Portugal. Ik zal dit weekend opnieuw voor de punten gaan en een podiumplaats zou een hele mooie prestatie zijn. De vijfde plaats in het kampioenschap is heel goed mogelijk en als we dat flikken, mogen we echt heel trots zijn.
