Haryanto wint sprintrace Groot-Brittannië, geen punten Vandoorne

Rio Haryanto heeft de sprintrace op Silverstone op zijn naam geschreven. De Indonesiër bleef Raffaele Marchiello en Pierre Gasly voor. Stoffel Vandoorne kwam er niet aan te pas en eindigde slechts als negende, buiten de punten. Ook Daniel de Jong bleef puntloos.

De sprintrace was een vermakelijke wedstrijd, met verschillende gevechten en mooie inhaalacties. Jordan King en Oliver Rowland waren de smaakmakers voor hun thuispubliek, terwijl Alex Lynn liet zien een aardig potje te kunnen verdedigen.

De Brit stond de gehele race onder druk van Nick Yelolly, maar in de laatste ronde bezweek Lynn dan toch. Hierdoor kwam hij als zesde over de streep, Yelolly als vijfde. Vandoorne reed enigszins anoniem in de rondte. De Belg, nog wel altijd fier aan de leiding in het kampioenschap, werd slechts negende en bleef zo voor het eerst dit seizoen puntloos.
