Matsushita boekt allereerste overwinning

Nobuharu Matsushita heeft op zondagochtend de sprintrace van de GP2 in Hongarije gedomineerd. De Japanner van ART boekte zijn allereerste overwinning in het voorportaal van de Formule 1. Hij kon zijn banden veel beter op niveau houden dan de rest en snelde zo naar de zege.

Naast hem op het podium stond teamgenoot Stoffel Vandoorne, wat de eerste dubbelzege voor ART sinds Monza 2010 inhield. Vandoorne reed ook de snelste ronde en schreef dus veertien punten bij aan zijn totaal. De Belg won voor het tweede weekend op een rij geen race, maar hij gaat nog wel steeds soeverein aan de leiding in het kampioenschap.

De laatste trede op het podium ging naar Sergey Sirotkin. MP Motorsport keerde met lege handen huiswaarts. Nicholas Latifi kwam als veertiende over de streep, terwijl Daniël de Jong de enige uitvaller van de race was.
