Van der Garde: "Er is absoluut nog geen man overboord"

Giedo van der Garde kende een verre van probleemloos weekend in Barcelona. De Nederlander wist in het openingsweekend van de GP2 Series geen enkel punt te scoren en werd in de hoofdrace zelfs tot tweemaal toe bestraft met een drive trough-penalty.

In de sprintrace reed Van der Garde een goede race, maar omdat hij achteraan moest starten kwam hij tekort voor punten. De snelheid zat er wel degelijk in, zag ook Van der Garde. "Dit was gewoon een goede race", zei Van der Garde, die als negende aan de finish kwam. "Ik heb elf man gepakt en eindigde in de top-tien. Het was natuurlijk niet het weekend waar ik op hoopte, maar de concurrentie had ook flink wat moeite om te scoren, dus er is nog absoluut geen man overboord."

"In Monaco moet het deze week gebeuren in de kwalificatie, dat is daar heel belangrijk. Ik heb er zin in!"
