De Jong herstelt voorspoedig van rugblessure

Daniel de Jong kan alweer lopen en bijna alles doen wat hij voor het weekend op Spa-Francorchamps kon doen. De Nederlander vloog tijdens een van de GP2-races op het circuit in de Belgische Ardennen hard van de baan in Blanchimont en brak daarbij een van zijn ruggenwervels. Een vier uur durende operatie was nodig om de schade in zijn lichaam te herstellen.

Komend weekend in Monza kan hij er dan ook niet bij zijn, maar het herstel verloopt voorspoedig. De Jong: "Alles gaat goed. Ik kan lopen en vrijwel alles doen. Ik moet alleen mijn rug stabiel houden en rust geven, maar verder voelt het prima. Ze hebben puik werk geleverd in het ziekenhuis. Ik wil iedereen bedanken voor de aardige berichtjes, de steunbetuigingen en de hulp. Dat stel ik zeer op prijs."
