Stoneman racet in Rusland namens Carlin

Carlin heeft Dean Stoneman opgeroepen voor het weekend in Rusland. De Brit lost Julian Leal af en zal in Sotsji Sean Gelael vergezellen als teamgenoot. Stoneman rijdt dit jaar aan de zijde van Nyck de Vries bij DAMS in de World Series by Renault en bezet daarin de derde plaats in de tussenstand.

"Ik ben opgewonden", begint hij als zijn GP2-optreden in Rusland ter sprake komt. "Dit is een nieuwe uitdaging voor me. Ik weet niet wat ik ervan moet verwachten en kan er pas iets zinnigs over zeggen zodra ik met de auto de baan op ben geweest. Het wordt hoe dan ook een mooie ervaring."

"Ik ga mijn best doen om een goed resultaat te behalen. Ik bewaar mooie herinneringen aan Sotsji. Vorig jaar in de GP3 won ik de eerste race van het weekend vanaf pole position en in de tweede race eindigde ik als tweede. Ik kijk ernaar uit om weer naar Rusland toe te gaan."

Ben benieuwd. Nadat hij zijn kanker overwonnen had is Dean "bevrijd". Het is niet de nieuwe Senna maar hij rijdt sindsdien met overtuiging en passie en staat inmiddels voor de Vries in het kampioenschap. Heel knap.
