Prema Powerteam vervangt Lazarus in 2016

Prema Powerteam treedt toe tot de GP2. De Italiaanse renstal neemt het startbewijs over van Lazarus GP. Prema Powerteam is een bekende naam uit de Formule 3. In die serie hebben ze al vijf keer op een rij de Europese titel veroverd. Bij de test in Abu Dhabi na het huidige seizoen zal Prema zijn debuut maken in de GP2.

GP2-baas Bruno Michel: "Het doet me deugd om Prema te verwelkomen in de GP2. Het is een team met een rijk gevulde erelijst in andere klasses en dat geeft me het geloof dat ze zich snel aan onze serie aan zullen passen. Ik wil Tancredi Pagiaro bedanken voor het harde werk dat hij met Lazarus verricht heeft in de voorbije vier seizoenen en ik wens hem het beste voor de toekomst.

Prema-teammanager Rene Rosin: "We zijn verguld om dit nieuwe avontuur aan te gaan in de GP2. Prema heeft de ontwikkelingen in de GP2 altijd aandachtig gevolgd en nu is het tijd om ons zelf in de debatten te mengen. Het is voor ons een logische vervolgstap na successen in de Formule 3 en Formule 4. Ik ben Bruno Michel dankbaar voor zijn inspanningen om ons in te laten stromen."
