Matsushita leidt sprintrace Monaco van start tot finish

Nobuharu Matsushita heeft de sprintrace in Monaco op zijn naam geschreven. De Japanner eindigde gisteren in de hoofdrace als tweede en mocht hierdoor vandaag vanaf pole position vertrekken. Matsushita gaf de eerste positie geen enkel moment uit handen.

De sprintrace was een weinig spectaculaire aangelegenheid. Matsushita had een aanzienlijke voorsprong ten opzichte van Marvin Kirchhofer. De Duitser, de afgelopen twee seizoenen derde in het GP3-kampioenschap, werd tweede en boekte zo zijn eerste podiumplaats in de GP2.

Achter Kirchhofer eindigde Raffaele Marciello als derde. De voormalig Ferrari-protegé zat lange tijd ongeveer één seconde achter Kirchhofer, maar tot een serieuze inhaalpoging kwam het nooit. Mitch Evans werd vierde, Alex Lynn vijfde. Daniel de Jong eindigde net buiten de top tien als elfde.
