Sirotkin laat steken vallen in kwalificatie

Sergey Sirotkin was het GP2-weekend op Spa-Francorchamps nog goed begonnen met de snelste tijd in de training, maar in de kwalificatie is de Rus een beetje door het ijs gezakt. De ART Grand Prix-coureur kwam niet verder dan een dertiende tijd.

Vooraan eiste Prema de eerste startrij voor zich op. Antonio Giovinazzi klopte teamgenoot Pierre Gasly op weg naar pole position. Gustav Malja verraste met een derde tijd. Racing Engineering-duo Norman Nato en Jordan King maakt de top vijf vol.

Daniël de Jong was met een 1:58.342 1,7 seconde langzamer dan de beste tijd van Giovinazzi. De Nederlander start de eerste race morgen als achttiende. Teamgenoot Oliver Rowland deed het met de vijftiende plaats iets beter, maar ook hij zal niet tevreden zijn met die klassering.
