Hydraulische problemen kosten Van der Garde goede kwalificatie

Giedo van der Garde kende een zeer teleurstellende kwalificatie op het circuit van Monza. De Nederlander was in de vrije training nog de allersnelste coureur, maar hydraulische problemen zorgden ervoor dat hij slechts één ronde kon rijden in de kwalificatie. Gevolg: een veertiende startplaats.

"Het begon zo goed", verzuchtte Giedo. "De baan ligt me, de auto werkt hier uitstekend en in de training was dat duidelijk te zien met de snelste tijd. In de kwalificatie was ik bezig met een prima rondje, totdat ik voor de laatste bocht problemen kreeg. Ik moest de Parabolica in z'n zes nemen en verloor daardoor bakken met tijd. In de pits probeerden we alles nog te herstellen, maar tevergeefs."

"Jammer, maar aan de andere kant weten we dat de snelheid er is en is er morgen een nieuwe ronde, met nieuwe kansen."
