Christian Vietoris wint spektakelstuk in Spa, Grosjean kampioen

Romain Grosjean mag zich de nieuwe GP2-kampioen noemen. De Franse coureur eindigde in de hoofdrace op Spa-Francorchamps als derde en dat was genoeg om de titel veilig te stellen. Christian Vietoris won de spectaculaire race, terwijl Giedo van der Garde niet aan de finish kwam.

Vietoris bouwde een voorsprong op van twee seconden richting Jules Bianchi in het droge eerste gedeelte van de race. Nadat hij zijn pitstop maakte voor regenbanden in de veertiende ronde behield hij zijn leidende positie. Vlak daarna, toen het steeds harder ging regenen , werd de safety car op de baan gebracht na een spin van Julian Neal in Eau Rouge.

Enkele ronden later brak de hel los op Spa-Francorchamps. De regen kwam met bakken uit de hemel gevallen en Stefano Coletti en Mikhail Aleshin kwamen met elkaar in aanraking. Coletti moest zelfs met behulp met medische assistentie worden bevrijdt uit zijn bolide.

Met nog maar één ronde op de teller werd het veld weer losgelaten, maar Vietoris' overwinning kwam niet meer in gevaar. De Duitser won de race, gevolgd door Jules Bianchi en Romain Grosjean. Doordat Giedo van der Garde geen punten wist te scoren, hij kwam zelfs niet eens aan de finish, mag de Fransman zich GP2-kampioen van 2011 noemen.

Van der Garde kwam al moeilijk weg bij de start, omdat hij op het natte gedeelte van het circuit moest vertrekken. Na La Source werd hij even buiten de baan gedrukt door Esteban Gutierrez en schoof de bandenstapels in. De Nederlander kon zijn weg vervolgen, maar werd even later in de race alsnog van achteren aangetikt.

Naar mijn mening is de Safety Car op het einde te laat naar binnen gegaan. Daarvoor was het best een mooie race. Helaas viel mijn stream precies uit toen de Safety Car binnen kwam. :P

  Inderdaad de Mijne haaperde ook constant dat was erg Frustrerend. hopelijk krijgt de Formule 1 net zo\'n spannende Race.
