GP2 Series presenteert uitgebreide kalender voor 2012

De GP2 heeft het programma voor volgend jaar onthuld. De Asia Series en Main Series zijn samen gevoegd, resulterend in een uitgebreide kalender bestaande uit twaalf raceweekenden. Singapore staat voor het eerst op het schema voor de GP2, Bahrein is zelfs twee keer gastheer voor een raceweekend. De GP2 test van 28 februari tot en met 1 maart op Jerez en van 6 tot en met 8 maart op Barcelona.

GP2-baas Bruno Michel: Als voornaamste pad richting de Formule 1 zijn we als GP2 aan onze stand verplicht om veel Formule 1-circuits op te nemen in onze kalender, inclusief races buiten Europa, waardoor we Maleisië, Bahrein en Singapore hebben toegevoegd. Echter, onze serie moet ook betaalbaar blijven en daarom hebben we het aantal evenementen buiten Europa beperkt. Door goede samenwerking met onze partners houden we de kosten voor vracht en reserve-onderdelen laag. Met elf Formule 1-circuits, een auto die in de buurt komt van de Formule 1 en dezelfde banden van Pirelli vestigt de GP2 zich eens te meer als het ideale opstapje.

26-28 april Sakhir, Bahrein
11-13 mei Barcelona, Spanje
24-26 mei Monaco
22-24 juni Valencia, Europa
6-8 juli Silverstone, Groot-Brittannië
20-22 juli Hockenheim, Duitsland
27-29 juli Boedapest, Hongarije
31 augustus-2 september Spa-Francorchamps, België
7-9 september Monza, Italië
21-23 september Singapore

Twee keer Bahrein, en dat ook nog back to back?
Hmmmm... als Bahrein toch weer niet door kan gaan verlies je meteen twee raceweekends.

Een lachwekkend iets. Twee keer Bahrein. Had ze liever in Montreal zien racen ipv twee keer Bahrein. Wel goed voor Melker en wie weet Van der Garde. Ik zou als ik hem was toch nog één jaartje GP2 rijden. Die zijn een seconde of vier langzamer dan de langzaamste F1 auto\'s. Het verschil is dat hij dan wel vooraan mee rijdt bij de GP2 ipv achteraan de F1. Is toch leuker om kampioen van de Jupiter League te worden dan te degraderen in de Eredivisie?
