Bandenregels voor GP2 gewijzigd voor races in Monaco

De leiding van de GP2 heeft de reglementen met betrekking tot de banden ietwat aangepast aan de vooravond van het weekend in Monaco. Alleen in het prinsdom beschikken de rijders over twee setjes hard en twee setjes zacht. Tot aan deze races en na Monaco was en is de verhouding drie setjes van de harde compound tegenover één setje van de zachte band.

De GP2 schrapt verder de regel die teams verplicht om een setje harde banden voor de sprintrace te bewaren in zijn geheel. De hoop is dat dit de weg vrij maakt voor meer variatie in de strategieën. Pirelli-racemanager Mario Isola: "De nieuwe regels zijn een opwindende ontwikkeling om het element van bandenmanagement en tactiek te vergroten. Daardoor vestigt de GP2 zich als nog betere voorbereiding voor de koningsklasse van de autosport, de Formule 1."
