Van der Garde en Melker verzamelen in beide races punten

De Nederlanders in de GP2 hebben een keurig weekend achter de rug. Giedo van der Garde finishte de hoofdrace als vijfde en moest in de sprintrace op zondag alleen James Calado voor zich dulden. De Caterham-coureur heeft nu 119 punten en bezet de vierde plaats in de tussenstand.

Nigel Melker lijkt de smaak te pakken te hebben. Na een dubbele puntenfinish op Silverstone was het op de Hockenheimring ook twee maal raak. De tweede race kwam hij wel als tiende over de streep, maar door straffen voor Jolyon Palmer en Stefano Coletti veroverde hij toch nog een puntje.

Johnny Cecotto schreef zaterdag de hoofdrace op zijn naam. De Venezolaan nam een gok door op slicks te beginnen op een vochtige baan en dat pakte perfect uit. Ook Stephane Richelmi hanteerde die tactiek en haalde het podium als derde. Fabio Leimer eindigde tussen dat tweetal.
