Jon Lancaster in Spanje teamgenoot van Robin Frijns

Robin Frijns rijdt komend weekend weer in de GP2 voor Hilmer Motorsport. In Barcelona treft hij een andere stalgenoot dan in Bahrein. In het oliestaatje vergezelde Pal Varhaug de Nederlander, maar Hilmer heeft voor Spanje gekozen voor Jon Lancaster.

Lancaster, een 24-jarige Brit, deed vorig jaar wat ervaring op in de GP2 met een weekend in Maleisië voor Ocean Racing Technology. Ook toen was een Nederlander zijn teamgenoot, namelijk Nigel Melker. Sepang bleek zijn enige optreden in het voorportaal van de Formule 1 in 2012. Hij scoorde geen punten en verloor vanwege budgettaire problemen zijn plek aan Brendon Hartley.
