Robin Frijns heeft in de GP2-training in Barcelona een nieuw visitekaartje afgegeven. De jonge Nederlander sloot de sessie af als vijfde met een 1:31.010. Voor de reserverijder van Sauber is het pas zijn tweede weekend in het voorportaal van de Formule 1.

Daniel de Jong beleefde een baalsessie. Al in zijn tweede rondje gaf zijn auto de geest. Hij keerde niet meer terug op de baan en eindigde onderaan zonder tijd. Felipe Nasr noteerde de snelste tijd met een 1:30.103, voor James Calado en Johnny Cecotto.
