Aleshin neemt plaats Ammermuller in

Michael Ammermuller is niet in staat komend weekend aan de start te staan in Barcelona. Zijn plaats wordt ingenomen door World Series by Renault-coureur Mikhail Aleshin. De Rus staat momenteel vierde in de stand van die raceklasse en won al een race voor het team van Carlin Motorsport.

Nu moet hij dus instappen bij ART Grand Prix in de GP2. Dat team werd de afgelopen twee jaar kampioen met Lewis Hamilton en Nico Rosberg. Aan Aleshin de taak om Ammermuller te doen vergeten voor één weekend. De Duitser ondervindt nog te veel hinder van een polsblessure die hij opliep tijdens het eerste weekend in Bahrein na een botsing met Williams-testcoureur Kazuki Nakajima.

Ammermuller is vorige maand geopereerd aan zijn pols. Dokter Andreas Priol wist toen al dat de kans dat de Duitser dit weekend zou kunnen racen klein zou zijn. We hadden geen complicaties, de operatie verliep perfect. Maar hij heeft een lastig fractuur, dat kan wel twaalf weken duren voordat het genezen is. Ondanks de titaniumschroef die doktoren in de pols van Ammermuller hebben geplaatst om het herstel te versnellen heeft ART toch besloten om de Duitser komend weekend niet in te zetten.
