Niemela nieuwe teamgenoot van Ho-Pin Tung

Ho-Pin Tung weet wie zijn nieuwe teamgenoot bij BCN Competicion wordt. De Fin Markus Niemela mag het seizoen in de GP2 voor de renstal van Enrique Scalabroni afmaken. Hij is de vervanger van Sakon Yamamoto, die vorige week werd aangesteld als racecoureur van Spyker in de Formule 1. De 23-jarige Niemela reed sinds vorig jaar in het Britse Formule Renault-kampioenschap.

In een verklaring laat BCN Competicion weten: Wij, blij als we zijn met onze nieuwe aanwinst, laten eens te meer zien dat BCN Competicon het ideale team is om jonge coureurs op te leiden. Nu zullen we er alles aan doen om Markus Niemela optimaal materiaal te geven voor dit kampioenschap en dan kan hij zijn kans grijpen in de perfecte opstapklasse voor de Formule 1.

Niemela zal zich snel moeten aanpassen, aangezien hij komend weekend in Hongarije al aan de bak moet. De Hungaroring is de gastheer vaar races 12 en 13 van het kampioenschap. Daarin gaat Timo Glock aan de leiding, gevolgd door Lucas di Grassi.
