Olivier Pla probeert nieuwe bolide uit op Paul Ricard

Olivier Pla heeft de eerste kilometers van de nieuwe GP2-bolide afgelegd. Eigenlijk zou Nelson Piquet Junior de auto voor volgend jaar uitproberen op het circuit van Paul Ricard, maar de Braziliaan had verplichtingen voor Renault. Pla reed in 2005 en 2006 in de GP2 en testte nu twee dagen met de nieuwe bolide.

Technisch directeur van de GP2, Didier Perrin, vertelt: We hebben Olivier expres de opdracht gegeven om tot het gaatje te gaan, we wilde graag weten tot wat deze auto in staat is. Bovendien komen technische mankementen dan eerder aan het licht. We wisten al dat de nieuwe auto qua snelheid veel potentieel heeft, daarom hebben we ons nu op andere onderdelen geconcentreerd.

De feedback die Olivier gaf was bemoedigend en we weten nu zeker dat we de goede richting zijn ingeslagen met de nieuwe auto. Volgend jaar zal de auto net zo lastig te besturen en af te stellen zijn als de huidige bolide.
