Bakkerud aan de kant door rugproblemen, Pla maakt rentree

Christian Bakkerud doet komend weekend niet mee aan de GP2-races op het circuit van Monza. Hij heeft al maanden last van zijn rug en moet nu eerst van die problemen af voordat hij weer achter het stuur mag kruipen. Zijn vervanger bij David Price Racing (DPR) is oude bekende Olivier Pla, een routinier met twee jaar GP2-ervaring.

Pla reed namelijk in 2005 en 2006 al voor DPR in de GP2 en boekte in zijn eerste jaar twee zeges. De Fransman over zijn rentree: Ik wil David Price bedanken voor deze kans. Ik kijk er echt naar uit om weer voor hem te racen. Hopelijk hebben we een sterk weekend en kan ik een goed resultaat neerzetten. Ik heb pas geleden met de auto voor 2008 getest, maar ik weet zeker dat ik me meteen thuis zal voelen in de auto van DPR.

Bakkerud moet dus vanaf de zijkant toekijken hoe Pla en teamgenoot Andy Soucek de kleuren van DPR verdedigen in Italië. De Deen hoopt op een snelle terugkeer, maar neemt geen risicos. Ik wil nu echt van mijn rugproblemen af en dat kan alleen door meer rust te nemen. Het is teleurstellend dat ik niet kan racen in Monza, maar ik hoop op Spa-Francorchamps weer in de auto te zitten.
